The Working Holiday Program was established in order to give young people from Chile and Denmark a chance to experience each other’s culture and way of life.

Those who qualify for the program obtain a residence permit for a maximum of 12 months. The primary purpose of your stay must be holiday, but you may work during your stay in order to earn supplementary funds to support yourself.

You are allowed to work for a maximum period of 6 months during a 12-month stay, and also study or take a training course for a limited period of time.

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

A) Be a Danish national who is residing in Denmark at the time of the application.

B) Be at least 18 and no more than 30 years old (both inclusive) at the time of application.

C) Not be accompanied by children.

D) Copy of the valid Danish passport (only the page with personal information).

E) Hold a return ticket, or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket.

F) Have a minimum of US$3,000 available funds to meet your living costs while you are in Chile (evidence of funds will have to be provided, such as bank account statements, credit cards statements, or money orders).

G) Provide a police record in order to meet our character requirements.

H) Provide a medical examination (with the family doctor’s certificate it’s enough).

I) Hold medical and comprehensive hospitalization insurance for the length of your stay.

J) Provide 1 color recent passport size photograph in color (not a picture taken with your phone).

K) Send a simple application letter with contact information and description of your trip (not formal).

You must present the application and the documents at the Consulate of Chile in Denmark, or send all the documents by normal mail and call 5 days after to get an appointment.

Fee: US$542 + 10%.

How much time do you have to travel to Chile after your visa has been approved?

You have 90 days from the date your visa has been stamped on your passport to enter to Chile and activate your visa.
