If you remain in Chile after your tourist or temporary visa has expired you won’t be able to leave the country. In order to do so, you will have to pay the fine determined by the following chart:

Payment

You must concur to your closest Extranjería office (“Departamento de Extranjería y Migración”). Once there an official will determine the amount of the fine you will have to pay (according to the chart shown above) and issue a document.

With that document you will have to go to any commercial bank and pay the fine.

Note: Commercial banks are open between Monday and Friday and from 09:00 to 14:00. Pay the fine in advance and avoid having last minute issues. 

Lastly, go back to Extranjería and deliver the payment receipt in order to obtain a copy of the fine applied and a receipt of its payment.

You can book an appointment at Extranjería or you can just present yourself at the office.
